Legrand and the ISO 26000 Standard

A framework for CSR

The purpose of the ISO 26000 standard is to guide organisations in taking charge of their corporate social responsibility.

It is an international standard that provides a framework for corporate social responsibility, to identify and discuss with the stakeholders and add credibility to communication about corporate social responsibility. Legrand's CSR approach, via the materiality matrix, is structured around seven key questions in the ISO26000 standard.

2 practices

To help organisations contribute to sustainable development, the ISO 26000 standard describes two fundamental corporate social responsibility practices. On the one hand, the identification of the impact of the organisation's decisions and activities with regard to the key questions in ISO 26000. And on the other hand, the identification of stakeholders, and dialogue with them.

7 guiding questions

Based on these two practices, the standard addresses seven key questions related to the corporate social responsibility of organisations. These seven questions cover:

  1. the governance of the organisation,
  2. human rights,
  3. working relations and conditions,
  4. the environment,
  5. the fairness of practices,
  6. consumer-related questions,
  7.  local communities and development.
