Multiple growth drivers

Our development is based on solid cross-functional growth drivers, notably the constant renewal and digitization of our offerings, the growth of eco-responsible products, innovation and digital transformation, a demanding focus on the customer experience, increased presence in new territories, and an active acquisition policy.

The Group is also focusing its investments on segments that accompany the energy and digital transition, including products for datacenters, for the energy transition, and for digital lifestyles. These offerings, which account for around 46% of our sales in 2023, provide a response to the growing needs associated with electrification, decarbonization of buildings, energy sobriety, digitalization of uses and economies, the search for comfort, and the desire of the most vulnerable to extend their autonomy. Legrand intends to continue developing in these segments.

A strong ambition in solutions accompanying the energy and digital transition, particularly in datacenters

TLegrand is stepping up its development in solutions that accompany the energy and digital transition, buoyed by structurally favorable trends that are outpacing the construction market.
These offerings will account for 46% of Group sales in 2023 (compared with 38% in 2019), and can be broken down into:

  • datacenter solutions
  • energy transition solutions
  • and offerings for digital lifestyles.

3 segments accompanying the energy and digital transition

Data center solutions

Technological progress, digitalization of economies and uses, and artificial intelligence are generating a continuous and exponential rate of growth in data traffic, which is powering the boom in datacenters

Legrand has expanded actively in this segment, both organically and through acquisitions. As a result, it now boasts a remarkably high exposure of 15% of its sales (on a pro forma basis in 2024, 4% on a reported basis).

Over the last 5 years (from 2020 to 2024), 12 acquisitions have been completed, including 5 in Europe, 4 in the rest of the world and 3 in North and Central America.

Legrand focuses on products offering enhanced value in use that are modular, personalized, highly configurable and considered by datacenter operators as mission-critical for business continuity purposes.

The Group offers solutions for both the “white space” (the part of the building housing the active components of the datacenter, including the racks housing the IT servers), and the “gray room” (the part of the building housing the infrastructures for the provision and protection of electrical power).

They are suitable for all types of datacenter: large-scale data centers (hyperscale and colocation), driven by a strong dynamic and a well-informed clientele that adopts a selective approach to each product; as well as intermediate-sized data centers up to micro datacenters.

Legrand's offerings are perfectly suited to the requirements and needs associated with the deployment of artificial intelligence (high-density racks and related systems such as power supply and cooling), while offering full interoperability with infrastructure management solutions (DCIM - Datacenter Infrastructure Management) and enabling end customers to significantly reduce their energy consumption.

Offers for digital lifestyles

Digital lifestyles are benefiting from long-term trends such as structural housing shortages, more flexible working patterns, and the growing need for personal service buildings.
Legrand has been positioned in digital lifestyle offerings for over a decade, and continues to develop actively in this area. Sales on this segment account for 6% of total sales by 2023.

Legrand's offerings are at the crossroads of technology, ease of use and installation, and privacy protection. They include the entire ecosystem of smart, remotely managed homes (access control, security, management of temperature, opening systems, consumption and lighting), guest management systems for hotels, assisted living products for vulnerable individuals (alarms, detectors, remote monitoring) and connected care software solutions.

Offers for the energy transition

With global demand for electricity forecast to double by 2050, while final energy consumption is expected to fall, Legrand offers a wide range of solutions for electrification and consumption management.
Legrand has historically positioned itself in offers linked to the energy transition, and continues to develop actively in this area. Since 2010, Legrand has made nearly 25 acquisitions of leading companies in this segment.
By 2024, the Group had a leadership position (number 1 or 2) in more than 24 countries in one or more segments or sub-segments of its offering in this space.
The share of its sales generated in the energy transition rose from 22% in 2019 to 25% in 2023.

Legrand's unique value proposition consists of a versatile, innovative and high-quality offering for all buildings.
