“Our job is to support Legrand’s external growth, from monitoring the roughly 350 companies in the Group’s active pipeline to successfully docking an average of 3-6 acquisitions a year.”
Executive VP, Corporate Development
At Legrand, acquisitions are an integral part of our strategy. We use them to fuel business development and expand market share, targeting companies with leadership positions, promising locations and activities that complement our business. Backed by our longstanding acquisitions expertise, we plan to pursue this strategy over the long term.

In addition to innovation—generating a steady stream of new, high value-added product launches—acquisitions have been a historical driver of growth at Legrand. Since 1954 we’ve bought 185 companies in our core businesses, in complementary markets and in the most promising technologies. We focus in particular on faster expanding segments, which accounted for nearly 45% of acquired annual sales from 2010 to 2023.
Legrand teams are constantly on the lookout for new acquisitions, using their in-depth knowledge of local players to identify likely candidates in a fragmented market. Being close to markets—one key to the success of our acquisition policy—lets us find and assess investment opportunities. It also smoothes the acquisition process and facilitates docking once a deal has been completed.
In addition, a dedicated Corporate Development unit oversees the entire acquisition process, stepping in as needed to coordinate the teams involved.
Executive VP, Corporate Development
At Legrand, our docking process follows a long-established procedure. The aim is to bring newly acquired companies into the Group smoothly, maximizing synergies with our historical business areas while still enabling them to achieve their own growth potential.
One advantage of this process is rapid, successful rollout of ranges made by recently acquired companies in markets outside their home countries. These include data center offers such as PDUs made by Raritan, Server Technology, Shenzhen Clever Electronic and Starline busways, as well as connected solutions sold under the “with Netatmo” brand.
