INNOVATING TO IMPROVE LIVES

At Legrand, our business culture is rooted in innovation—a constant source of momentum that generates a steady flow of new-product launches, such as high value-in-use products for buoyant segments such as solutions that accompany the energy and digital transition, comprising products for datacenters, energy transition and digital lifestyles.

New products with greater value-in-use

Over the long term, Legrand devotes around 5% of its sales to research and development.

This investment ensures a steady flow of new products in line with customer needs. This constant supply of added value maintains the loyalty of installers, specifiers and end-users to the Group's brands.

The main areas of product development are as follows:

  • quality, reliability and safety ;
  • simplicity and speed of installation ;
  • ease of use and intuitive ergonomics;
  • enhanced and difference-making features and value in use (such as remote controls that ensure the security and confidentiality of personal data, voice control, etc.);
  • broadest possible interoperability;
  • ecodesign and decarbonization optimizing the carbon footprint over an entire product lifecycle;
  • esthetics and design

Innovations that change lives

Throughout our history, Legrand has introduced any number of pioneering innovations. In France and beyond, some are now used as generic names—Colson clamps and Plexo waterproof switches and sockets, for example. More recently, Legrand launched Drivia with Netatmo, the first smart, connected electrical panel, as well as cutting-edge smart switches with no wires or batteries. In another breakthrough, we pioneered mission-critical lighting systems designed to disinfect sterile environments under the Kenall brand.

Managed manually, with an app, or—for the first time—by integrated voice command, the new Classe 300 EOS lets users control every component of Legrand’s connected universe.

IP Quiatil easy (Intervox), Reach IP (Tynetec) and Novo (Neat) terminals provide remote assistance, delivering comfort and safety and letting seniors and people with special needs stay in their own homes as long as possible.

Innovating for increasingly connected buildings

As work and life patterns evolve and become more digitalized, Legrand is responding with new equipment that can meet the growing need for connectivity in buildings.

Innovating to break new ground

Every year, Legrand dedicates around 5% of sales revenue to Research & Development. This gives us the resources we need to explore new areas and anticipate emerging needs in buildings. Our Legrand’s Design team also does pioneering exploratory work to create avant-garde concepts in digital and electrical infrastructures.

Expanding built-in voice assistance

Legrand partners with leading international digital players to create new services incorporating voice assistance.
We brought the first voice-controlled connected switch to market, and we continue to build this key function into offers such as our Classe 300 EOS connected video door-entry system.

Innovating for better technologies

In partnership with France’s Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), we developed an innovative connected switch solution with no wires or batteries. Thanks to an energy-harvesting mechanism, these next-generation switches deliver an all-new connected experience while reducing environmental impact.
